My creative journey has taken me from working as a graphic designer in Atlanta, to taking up oil painting after moving to South Carolina. I became serious about growing as an artist and immersed myself in the local art community. I participated in a weekly painting group and also enrolled in the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for select classes
Although I enjoyed painting various subjects, I was never quite satisfied creatively. I began to paint expressively, becoming increasingly intrigued with the mystery of abstract art, from how a piece may have been created to the underlying meaning of, or inspiration for, an artist’s work. It wasn’t until I took an oil and cold wax workshop taught by award-winning artist Rebecca Crowell, known for her innovative painting techniques involving cold wax medium, that I had that ‘ah ha’ moment and knew I’d found the medium and process I’d been searching for to express myself creatively. A workshop with award-winning, abstract expressionist painter, Grace Carol Bomer, was was also very influential in my pursuit to develop my skills.
